Squirrels love attics for the same reason you do.

Dry, warm, and hard to reach. We remove them humanely with one-way doors, seal the gap, and leave without a single cage in sight.

About this service

Precisely what we do, step by step.

Eastern grey squirrels are the most common attic invader in Metro Vancouver after raccoons. They typically enter through roof returns, gable vents, soffit gaps, and gaps at the edge of fascia boards. Unlike raccoons, squirrels are active primarily during the day and their sounds are often lighter and faster — scampering rather than thumping.

Treatment is essentially identical to our raccoon process: identify entry, install one-way doors, wait for occupants to leave, seal permanently. Squirrels are generally faster to exit than raccoon families and most exclusions complete in 2-4 days.

We use galvanized hardware cloth (not plastic, not cheap mesh) and weather-rated sealants for permanent results. Single-point warranty covers the specific entry for 12 months.

How to tell

Signs it’s time to call.

  • Fast scampering or running sounds in the ceiling or walls, primarily during daylight hours.
  • Chattering or scratching that seems to move around.
  • Shingle damage, chewed fascia boards, or gnawed holes in soffit edges.
  • Acorns, seeds, or small food caches found in attic spaces.
  • Squirrels seen accessing the roof line or entering the home.
Common questions

Everything else you might be wondering.

Is this the same as a rat problem?

+
No. Squirrels are larger, diurnal, and enter for nesting rather than food. They also tend to cause more structural damage to soffits and fascia since they gnaw to maintain their teeth. But the exclusion principle is the same — find the entry, seal it permanently.

What about squirrels in walls vs attic?

+
Squirrels can get trapped in wall cavities if they fell from above. This is an emergency situation — we work fast to locate and create a safe exit before the animal dies in the wall.
